And here we are! It’s Tuesday, December 10, 2019, with light rain around lunchtime, and highs about 48. The NWS says that after all our dry weather, Mother Nature is playing catchup…and the next batch’ll have some mustard on it as a much wetter front arrives Wednesday night into Thursday, with areas of heavy rain. Snow levels will stay high. Sunrise is at 7:39 AM, and sunset at 4:27 PM. The Air Stagnation Advisory drops at noon today.

And yes, a bit o’ news that I’ve been sitting on…hinting at, wishing I could have revealed at Dripstock III…will be spilled at 7 AM Pacific live on 103.3. I’ll have something to post here at that time, too. I hope you like it!

News? Oh, right! That’s what we’re here for. Well..

Articles of Impeachment may be introduced this morning in the House for 1: abuse of power, and 2: obstruction of Congress. It’s looking like there may be a Senate trial in January.

An unusual outbreak of dissent on the Nike campus in Beaverton, as Willamette Week reports that hundreds of employees staged a protest of the company’s treatment of women. The symbolic last straw was the opening of a building named after allegedly-abusive running coach Alberto Salazar. Employees carried signs that said “Just do better” and “Nike is a woman.”

Let’s give a graceful high five to Portland-rooted soccer great Megan Rapinoe for being named Sports Illustrated’s 2019 Sportsperson of the Year! She made us proud in her college days at the University of Portland, and now on the world stage SI says…”She is a force of nature on and off the field, a trailblazing soccer player who also proves every day how large and loud a voice a socially conscious athlete can have in 2019.”

We don’t know yet how many people were killed in the eruption of a volcano on a small island in New Zealand. White Island, also known by the Māori name Whakaari, is a popular tourist destination, and 30 passengers from the Ovation of the Seas cruise ship were on a shore excursion to the island when the volcano erupted on Monday. About six people are missing, six are known dead, and around 20 are injured.

Say, I meant to include in yesterday’s DD our hearty congratulations to Central Catholic for taking the Oregon 6A championship…as well as to the Camas Papermakers finishing up a perfect season by beating Bothell 35-14 in the Class 4A Washington state championship game! They called it their “Revenge Tour”…getting even with the world for last season’s 5-5 record.

The 9-15 Blazers will play the even more woeful (4-19) NY Knicks at the Moda Center tonight.

From the DD one year ago: “It was a sweet welcome home at PDX as the 2018 MLS Western Conference Champs, the Portland Timbers, arrived home from Atlanta, just one game short of a storybook ending. The Rosarians doffed their straw hats, the Timbers Army chanted, and the whole team worked the rope line, high-fiving and signing autographs for kids. They didn’t bring home the hardware they sought, but they made the Rose City proud.”
